description:
"With the Clubmobile, in England we had old busses that were converted into little lounges. They had P,A. systems and records and coffee and donut making machines. In England we had a driver, but when we cot to the continent we had converted to GMC 6X6 trucks, which we had to drive. There were three girls on a truck. I was with the same girls almost the whole time. We turned into to be very good friends. In France, we went as a group of eight Clubmobiles. I think there were probably eight or nine groups, so there were quite a few of us. It was probably about the time of the Battle of the Buldge that they split us into two groups of four because it made us more mobil. The army gave us our assignments because we could have gotten into trouble if we went off by ourselves. We often heard shelling, especially when we got into Germany. We had to retreat in front of the Russians. We actually got all the way to Millhausen, Germany. Each group had a generator and we would make donuts ahead of time then go out to wherever we were assigned, make the coffee and put on the records. We were a touch of home." NSCD
