description:
NSCD - "My brother Bill, a Colonel in the Army, had gone in when Colonel Hobby needed officers to start a training center to recruit WACs. So Bill had me sent down to Atlantic City to recruit WACs for that center. Atlantic City was called the Personnel Distribution Command, where men from overseas were returned and reassigned from active duty. I was sent down there, not only to train WACs coming in to start a Company, but also to later on I went into the Personnel Distribution Center Command. They had no WACs on base to start this Company so we put on a big show by the Mammoth Beach army headquarters. In the meantime I had a WAC shack on the boardwalk where I recruited girls from anywhere, to join the Army. When they were ready to join they were processed down in Atlantic City by an Army officer, but I would bring them in. We did that for quite a while, then we had a big parade down the main boardwalk opposite the convention hall, which is where I had the WAC shack. They had a big parade and there were four of us who marched I represented America, another girl was form Britain and on other girl from France and one from Australia. We were pictured, in the newspaper, walking four abreast down the boardwalk"
