description:
Part 1 of 2. Kim Jaden was born on May 13, 1974 in Seoul, Korea and her family moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was very young. She attended college at Princeton University, graduating with a political science degree in 1996. While there she was part of the Army ROTC, but she didn't particularly like the Army so she considered instead going to Marine Officer Candidate School, but she didn't take to that very much either. She went to basic training school afterwards hoping to go into aviation, and of the 250 people attempting to do the same, she was one of two to get the available billets. She learned to become a Weapons System Officer and was deployed for Operation Bright Star, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving, she achieved the rank of Captain. She served in the VMFAA (AW)-121, and IMEF units and was awarded the Air Medal with Silver Service Star and Gold Service Star, and the National Defense Service Medal.
